Hey uh, my family says that cosplaying is really dumb and stupid. But I really want to cosplay and I don't know what to say to them.

okay listen, don’t let them tell you something you like is stupid! if you enjoy somthing it’s good whatever others say.
try to find out what it is, they think is stupid about cosplaying. try to convince them from the opposite! I for myself can say, it’s a terribly money and nerve eating hobby but it’s kind of worth all of this. you actually have to learn to sew (except you buy your cosplays) and I think having a project to work on and even tho you’ll be wanting to just throw everything away bc you hate it, you won’t and you will finish your costume and when you do so you are the most statisfied person ever.
idk I think cosplay really gives you something you need to finish, a project and I feel like this is somthing important to have? also HEY YOU’RE GONNA LEARN HOW TO SEW that’s always good!
anndddd for cons, you will meet a lot, lot of fantastic people who will share your interests, big plus??
I feel kinda dumb hmmm so what I’m basically trying to say, try to convince them, that it’s a good hobby. you’ll have something to work on physically, you’re gonna learn how to sew, finishing goals, even if it’s just to make a costume is something huge in life!, new friends…… tell them it’s kind of like theatre? just without the acting on stage, being able to be another person sometimes is really relaxing.
